A New Beginning (That's Been Years in the Making)

So, I'm finally doing it.

I'm officially starting a coaching business to help people find healing, hope, and happiness. And I'd love to introduce you to the way I'll be doing it: the H3 Method.

If you know me, this probably isn't a huge surprise. It's a new beginning, but honestly, it's been forming for years.

Keeping It Official

You also know I like to do things the official way. Maybe a little over the top.

I want you to be able to trust me for more than the fact that I refused to stop looking for answers for my son. I want you to know that the choices I help you make are educated, informed, and backed by a national board certification.

If you've been following along on Facebook, you know I applied for a full scholarship to a functional medicine coaching program and didn't get it. That one stung a little.

Good thing I kept researching. While I was looking for other paths to national board certification, I stumbled on the Health Coach Training Pathway at USC Lancaster. Out of the thousands of health coach and wellness programs out there, only a select few, about 140 in the entire country, are approved by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching and qualify you to sit for the national board exam. This is one of them, and it's the first nationally recognized health coach training program in South Carolina designed for academic credit. Right here at home. No way, right? Even better, I'm eligible for full tuition reimbursement as long as I finish with a B average.

This one means a lot to me. My husband and our two oldest are USC grads, and we got married at USC on the university's anniversary. It just feels right.

Classes start in January, and I'm thrilled. The program is fully online, and before I can sit for the board exam I'll need to complete at least 50 real coaching sessions, so you'll be hearing more about that soon. Once I've checked every box, I'll be eligible to sit for the exam and earn the NBC-HWC credential (National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach).

What I'm Doing in the Meantime

I'm not exactly sitting still until January. Right now I'm:

  • Self-studying functional labs

  • Enrolled in a functional lab course that ends with a certification

  • Building out my business model and coaching forms

  • Making plans for an eventual wellness space

A Quick Word on Labs

In case you aren't aware, there are two very different sets of lab values people look at.

Traditional doctors usually work from clinical reference ranges, which are designed to flag disease. Wellness coaches like me also look at functional, or optimal, ranges: where your body tends to work its best. A result can be "normal" and still not be optimal, and that gap is often where the real conversation starts.

I can't wait to help you understand both, so you can make the best choices for your health.

And here's the part I can't keep to myself: I can now order your labs! You know the ones. The labs your doctor may not think you need, or the ones insurance won't cover. And honestly, for a really affordable price. :) Who isn't excited about that?

I'll help you understand what your results are telling you, through both lenses, and you'll always be able to bring them to your doctor too.

How I Got Here

When I think about everything that led me here, and how clearly God has had His hand on this path, it's almost dumbfounding. It honestly leaves me speechless.

It goes all the way back to my yearbooks. Every single teacher wrote some version of the same thing: keep asking those questions. And my goodness, that's exactly what this is. Seeking answers for wellness, especially when you've been turned away, told everything was fine, or told there was no solution. I can't wait to dig deeper with you.

Then came 13 years in education, teaching students ages 5 to 55 :) Everything from kindergarten to a graduate course teaching teachers how to teach conceptual mathematics. Teaching is in my bones, and I'm ready to help you understand what your body is telling you so you can live your happiest, healthiest, most hope-filled life.

Then, in 2021, during one of our hardest seasons, I earned my certification as a Mental Wellness Coach through Marietta College, made possible by Amare, one of the direct sales companies I worked with. That's really what lit the fire. I started coaching online that same year, mostly one-on-one through Facebook messages, and I've now walked alongside close to 100 people, completely free. Every single one of those conversations made me want to do more, go deeper, and give people the real, dedicated time they deserve.

And of course, my kids. Saige and Satcher have taught me more about holistic, healthy living than I ever imagined possible. They opened my eyes to the natural side of wellness and gave me a real willingness to consider new things, while always staying grounded in science.

Every Hustle Counted

Since becoming a full-time caregiver, I've worked a lot of odd jobs to help support our family. Online direct sales. Waiting tables and bartending. The front desk of a dance studio. Private teaching, podcast pitch writing, website design, social media management, all the way up to marketing director.

Every single one taught me something:

  • Be honest and direct about products, and help people see what they actually need, not what someone is trying to sell them.

  • How to talk to anyone, and how to really listen. I've heard countless stories from people with a real need for healthier living.

  • People want clear schedules and clear pricing, and they want to feel just as valued as the next person.

  • What it's like to work for someone with a clear goal in mind.

  • How to design, market, and promote a business of my own.

  • The value of connections and relationships, and of adding something real to the lives of clients and partners.

Every step, every struggle, has been leading here.

Where We're Headed

There's so much more to share, and I hope you'll tag along. The plans are big, and they're going to happen.

I can't wait to finally devote real time and energy to this, and to move these conversations out of Facebook Messenger and into actual sessions with time set aside just for you.

And don't you worry. This model is built so that everyone has access to functional and wellness coaching. Part of my business will always be dedicated to philanthropic efforts. I'll never be able to repay the kindness that's been shown to our family in the hardest moments, but I promise I'll never stop trying.
